MAP-IT, Molecular Antigen PCR - Identification Tests.
A fast alternative to the in vivo MAP assay for laboratory animal diagnostics

The Molecular Antigen PCR-Identification Test (MAP-IT) is a combination of gel-based PCR and real time PCR assays for detecting viral agents that are currently tested by the in vivo assay. Instead of injecting test materials into the animals and waiting for the immune response from the mice, the molecular based assay directly detects the presence of any viral nucleic acid in the samples. The detection of any viral nucleic acid indicates that there may be viral contamination present.

Antibody and antigens are detected using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA), Western Blot and Antigen Capture Assay, with ELISA being our primary methodology. We also offer the only CDC-approved methodologies for Filovirus detection: ELISA for antibody and capture assays for antigen. Assays are validated with respect to sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility and efforts are continually ongoing to develop new assays.
