BioReliance News Room MAP-IT, Molecular Antigen PCR - Identification Tests. A fast alternative to the in vivo MAP assay for Laboratory Animal Diagnostics The Molecular Antigen PCR-Identification Test (MAP-IT) is a combination of gel-based PCR and real time PCR assays for detecting viral agents that are currently tested by the in vivo assay. Instead of injecting test materials into the animals and waiting for the immune response from the mice, the molecular based assay directly detects the presence of any viral nucleic acid in the samples. The detection of any viral nucleic acid indicates that there may be viral contamination present. BioReliance offers two different levels of MAP-IT services: the PREMIUM will test 18 agents including the 15 advential viral pathogens recommended by FDA plus MPV, K virus, and mycoplasma; the REGULAR screens for the 12 most common virus contaminants found in biological samples. Samples for testing can be cultured cells, culture fluid, and tissues. Further information is available on a pdf fact sheet. |
